Home Remedies For Fever Blisters
Cut a aloe vera leaf from the plant. Extract the fresh gel from inside the leaves by scrapping it. Rub this gel on to the affected area. It immediately cause burning sensation as the gel has healing properties. It deactivates the virus and thus prevents from further infection. Aloe vera gel is known to cure the fever blister in a very less amount of time.
Take an ice cube and rub or massage gently directly on to the blisters. This is one of the easiest and the simplest home remedies as ice is very soothing and slows down the activity of the virus. Ice improves blood circulation which allows the white blood cells to stop the infection. Thus, the blisters are cured very quickly.
Tea has beneficial and healing properties. Take a tea bag and place it in a cup of boiling water for one minute. Remove the tea bag and allow it to cool down. This cooled tea bag should be pressed gently against the fever blisters.
Corn starch is an effective remedy for treating fever blisters. A paste of proper consistency is made by combining one teaspoon corn starch with minimum amount of water until a thick paste is formed. Topical application of this paste on to the fever blisters cures them and heals them faster.
Honey can be directly applied on to the blisters for a quick relief. A solution is made by mixing two tablespoons in a warm glass of water. This solution is taken and used to rinse the mouth. This process can be repeated for a few times in a day.
Lemon Balm Tea
It is taken in the form of a hot cup of tea. A tea is made by mixing one tablespoon of honey and lemon balm in warm water. The tea is sipped slowly so as to help treat the blisters. The tea is known to boost the immune system. Alternatively, a cotton ball is dipped in the lemon balm tea and is pressed against the blisters to help soothe and cure.
Eggs And Yogurt
A mask of eggs and yogurt is made for preventing formation of fever blisters. This mask is considered to have a cooling effect thus reducing the inflammation like feeling associated with the blisters. The mask is generally applied on the blisters that are formed on the nose other than lips and mouth. Combine one tablespoon of honey, fresh yogurt and an egg and mix it well. This thick mask is applied to the fever blisters evenly and left for about half an hour. Later, rinse off with warm water. This soothes the fever blisters and reduces the redness. The basic component of eggs and yogurt is lysine. Lysine is a amino acid which is required to combat the virus that causes the fever blisters.
