Rum is Caribbean’s favorite drink. It can become yours’ too with these cocktail recipes. The most important thing to keep in mind is what rum you are choosing to prepare your cocktail. You can experiment though! There is a wide variety to choose from – spiced, dark, light and even aged.
Rum Cocktail Drink Ideas
You can add almost any juice to dark rum to create the perfect cocktail. My personal favorites are pineapple juice, or even grenadien and lemon juice. Just put all the ingredients with ice cubes in an ice shaker and shake it well. Then place a few ice cubes in a tall Colins glass and pour the cocktail. Garnish it with a slice of fruit.
You could try the same drink with mango, guava, litchi or even apple juice. Apple juice, especially, gives it a sweet and tangy taste thus making it quite an interesting combination.
Adding pineapple juice to the combination of both white and dark rum, together with a little coconut cream, makes a great rum cocktail drink All that you will need to do is mix all the ingredients in a blender and then pour it into a tall frosted glass. Add a few ice cubes to it too if you please. Instead of coconut cream, you could also try using creme de coconut.
For a sweet tasting rum cocktail, combine dark rum with passion fruit juice and shake it in an ice shaker with a few cubes of ice. Serve it in a hurricane glass with a cherry as the garnish.
You could even try the grapefruit juice cocktail. Dark rum and grapefruit juice together with maraschino liqueur, all shaken well and served in a chilled cocktail glass makes a great cocktail.
Spiced rum and one ripe banana, blended and poured into a cocktail glass is a classic cocktail mix. Add a few strawberries to it too for the extra taste. Instead of a banana, you could even use the sweet and intensely flavored crème de banana.
Soft Drink Cocktails
If you love your drinks to be fizzy then this is the cocktail for you. Mix white rum with cola or even Sprite and pour it in a highball glass. Add a squeeze of lime from the top and garnish with a lime wedge on the rim.
If you are using a orange fizzy drink then add a little orange juice to it as well to give it an interesting taste. For this you could use spiced rum and orange cuaraceo too. Use fine sugar for rimming the glass before you pour the drink
You can even use the combination of white rum, soda and mint leaves to create an interesting cocktail mix. Mix all together and before pouring it into a Colins glass, place a few mint leaves at the bottom, add a little lemon juice in it and half a teaspoon of brown sugar.
Mix white rum with condensed milk and some coconut milk. To this, stir in a pinch of nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom powder. You could even add a little vanilla essence to it. Refrigerate it. Just before serving pour it into margherita glasses and garnish with a sprig or mint or basil.
Add hot water to the mixture of dark rum and cherry brandy. Mix it well and serve in a highball glass. You could even add a few spoons of orange juice to it.
Dark rum with coffee and coffee liqueur is a wonderful winter time cocktail drink. You could even try the coconut liqueur with dark rum instead.
For either, all you need to do is to shake it well and then serve in a tall cocktail glass with a sprinkle of coffee powder of a little coconut wedge.
