Women especially home makers can try this awesome recipe and have their men literally eating out of their hands (Pun Intended). The following recipe is a fun, easy to make recipe guaranteed to give you a rich flavor and texture.
For The Ingredients
1 ½ Cup Refined Flour,
1 cup cocoa powder ( from a reputed brand),
1 ½ cups powdered sugar,
1 cup whipped cream
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla essence
1 tablespoon Vinegar
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
For The Icing
½ Cup unsalted white butter
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
½ cup ground sugar
1 slab of dark chocolate
1/2 cup of milk
Sieve the refined flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder at least 3-4 times. This is to ensure a homogenous mixture. The baking soda must distribute evenly in the cake batter otherwise the cake does not rise in the oven.
In a container beat the eggs lightly till they start to froth. To this add the 1 ½ cups of powdered sugar. Mix well. Gradually pour in the whipped cream and continue to whisk. Add the vanilla essence.
Pre-heat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius. To the cream and egg mixture add one portion of the sifted flour along with milk and whisk well. The batter should be of medium consistency and should have no lumps. Dissolve the vinegar in this mixture. Add the remaining portion of the sifted flour along with the last remains of the milk. Continue to whisk. By now your batter will have a rich, shiny, dark chocolate like consistency and is ready to be baked.
For this cake you should ideally use a bread loaf tin. Grease the bread loaf tin and pour the batter into the tin. Now bake this in the oven for 40-50 minutes at 170 degrees celsius. Once the cake is done you can check whether it is done by pricking it with a fork or knife. The batter should not stick to the fork or knife and it should come out smoothly.
For The Icing
Melt the butter in a pan. Add the cocoa powder and mix well. On a separate stove melt the dark chocolate on a double boiler. Pour this into the cocoa powder mixture and add the sugar. Keep stirring till it starts to thicken. You can now add in the milk. Vary the quantity of the milk as per the consistency desired. Let the chocolate syrup boil once. Switch off the gas and allow to cool.
Divide the cake into two portions by cutting it from between. Layer the bottom half with a thick layer of the chocolate icing. Place the top layer and pour the remaining chocolate icing over the rest of the cake. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours and serve chilled. You may alternately serve this with dollops of whipped cream or some scoops of vanilla ice-cream and chopped nuts as an interesting variation.
