Birth marks are discolored patches that can be located anywhere on a person’s body. Almost everyone has some or the other birth mark and it can range from being tiny, discolored spots or ugly patches on visible body parts. With technology at your aid you can get rid of ugly visible birth marks using laser therapy and other methods. These treatments are very expensive and can burn a huge hole in your pocket. The best way of avoiding this and making sure that your birth marks are hidden is by using makeup. Corrective makeup can be used for covering birth marks, scars and even tattoos on areas that you do not want. Here are some simple tips on how to hide birth marks with makeup.
Cover Up Makeup For Birth Marks
Wash Your Skin
Begin by washing the area where the birth mark is located and then apply a light weight moisturizer. Apply a makeup primer over the area. A primer helps in making the makeup more long lasting and effective. Take a small amount of primer on your palm and apply it over the area that you want to conceal.
Apply Corrective Concealer
There are many professional makeup brands that have corrective concealers in their product line. These are available in tube, stick or pots and based on your skin type and needs you can choose any of the types of concealers. Dry skinned people should ideally use liquid concealers while dry, cream concealers in concealer sticks are meant for oily skinned people. For concealing specific areas there are pencil concealers available in the market. Choosing the right shade of concealer is also important for corrective makeup. For example, if you have purple birth marks then a yellow based concealer should work for you. For red skin patches use a green colored concealer while dark orange or yellow patches can be corrected with a blue based concealer.
Apply the corrective concealer based on the color of your birth marks. If your birth mark is simply a darker colored patch then apply a light shade of concealer to hide it. To apply the concealer use a concealer brush to dab on the product on the area that you want to hide. Blend well and let it dry for some time. If you need to conceal the spot even more than dab on some translucent powder on top and then apply the concealer again on the birth mark.
Finish off your application by applying foundation and then using a soft makeup brush dust some translucent powder on to set the makeup. If you feel that the birth marks are extremely difficult to hide then start off the makeup application by applying some matte foundation followed by corrective concealer and then foundation on top again. Applying corrective concealers can be tricky and you can end up looking like a clown instead of hiding the birth marks. To avoid this you can use skin colored concealers which match your skin tone and give more even coverage.
