Pin worms is a parasitic infestation of the body by tiny pin sized worms, which reproduce by feeding and multiplying inside the host’s body. Pinworm infestation occurs due to the consumption of pin worm eggs.
This can happen through contaminated food, dirty hands or contact through infected faeces. The most common symptom of pinworm infestation is itching in the anus. Fortunately, pin worms infections are very treatable. Here are some ways to get rid of a pin worm infestation
Natural Ways to Get Rid Of Pinworms
A diet rich in sugar provides the ideal breeding ground for pin worms. Pinworms multiply very fast so a high sugar and starchy diet is not recommended. Sugar gives them all the nutrients they need to multiply. Therefore, it is vital to reduce the intake of sugar in the diet.
Garlic is said to be akin to poison for pinworms. Eat garlic in its natural raw form by crushing two cloves of garlic and eating them dissolved in honey. Alternatively, have garlic in the form of garlic juice. Garlic helps to kill the pin worms and removes them from the body.
Eat a diet, which is high on probitoics like curd. These help to enhance the active cultures of good bacteria in the gut. These bacteria help to ward off and destroy the harmful parasites from the body.
Wash all bedding and clothing so as to prevent the infection from being transmitted to other members of the family. The infection is likely to spread through contact especially when infected people scratch themselves. All pyjamas especially should be rinsed ad washed 2-3 times in hot water to cleanse them of eggs if any.
Give your child some pumpkin seeds and let him/her have this for at least a week or until the worms have been removed from the body. Pumpkin seeds contain an enzyme, which is harmful for pin worms.
Make sure the child or the infected person in the house washes their hands thoroughly with warm water and soap to prevent re-infestation. Have all the members in the house cut their nails and keep them trim so that the eggs are not transferred through fingernails.
Wash the Rectum
Make sure the child cleanses his rectum area with warm water so that the area remains dry, clean and hygienic. This will also help to reduce irritation from the itching and burning sensation.
High Fibre Foods
High fibre foods help to clean out the colon and ultimately eliminate the pin worms. Make sure you consume a diet that is high on fibre like fruits, oats and whole grains. Have a lot of fruits like pineapples, apples and bananas, as they are rich in fibre. Drink at least 8-12 glasses of water for soft stools. Add grape fruit extract to your drinks. Grape fruit is very good for the body and helps to eliminate the pin worms.
These medications can be administered to all the infected people in the house to cure them of pin worm infestation and prevent the possibility of a recurrence.
