Whether or not you are gifted with voluptuous lips, a proper lip makeup can make them look so. Contoured, lustrous, and well-polished lips are desired by all women.
Like face and eyes, a good lip makeup supplements your dashing looks. As with other makeup procedures, this too comes with a whole lot of creativity on your part and you can make your dream of having a drop-dead gorgeous appearance a reality. Merely applying a lipstick is not we are talking about. You need a little preparation prior to that.
Exfoliate your Lips and Moisturize Them
Only a few of us are blessed with non-cracked and wrinkle sans lips. Applying a lipstick to such a rough surface only makes the jittery the lip lines look deeper and horrible. It is necessary to fill the cracks first. This is done by exfoliation. Take a little toothpaste over your brush and start massaging it gently over your lips. This removes the dead cells and cleanses all the rough skin. After you are done, moisturize them with a lip balm or petroleum based jelly. These come in different flavors.
Prime your Lips
Like face, applying a primer is the first step towards lip makeup. Either use a primer or a foundation for letting the lip-color stay for long hours. It also provides a finished base for initiating the makeup. Set the foundation with the help of a translucent powder.
Apply Lip Liner
This step comes prior to applying lipstick. Choose the liner’s color that is in harmony with lipstick’s shade. Do not use complementary colors or you will end up making a clownish look. Just follow the contour of the lip. For the upper lip, start drawing from the central ‘V’ portion. Make sure that the liner is sharp enough to give a clear and sharp edge line. For the fuller look, start drawing a little above the upper lip and a little below the lower one. Those who have extra plumped lips can apply the liner starting below the actual contour. Lip liner helps in making the boundary in which lip colors can be filled.
Fill in with the Desired Lip Color
Fill both the lips with a branded lip stick. Do not cross the edges formed by the liner. Choose the color that goes easily with your skin tone. Start from the center and move to sides then. There are numerous varieties like matte, gloss, and frost type that are available in market.
Remove Excess Color
Wipe off the excess color, if any, with a tissue paper. Do no press the paper against your lips.
Try a Lip Gloss
Add glamour to your lips with these. They impart extra shine and look quiet fabulous. You can either use then in combination with lipsticks or alone. Instead, you can use some fine glitter powder also, dip lip brush in it and apply gently over your lipstick.
Use a Lip Plumper
This cosmetic product is specifically designed for thinner lips so that they look fuller. Its ingredients react with the lip skin and make them swell a little which result in a pouty appearance.
