The schezwan prawn recipe is an absolute treat for your taste buds. This spicy delicacy will work as a great side dish for fried rice or noodles.
Medium sized prawns- 550 grams
Chilli oil- 3 tablespoons
Dry red chillies- 4-5 (chopped)
Dry red chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
Tomato sauce- 4 tablespoons
Soya sauce- 1 tablespoon
Egg- 1 (white part)
Garlic- 2 cloves (minced)
Sugar- 2 teaspoons
Corn flour- 1 teaspoon
Black pepper powder- As per taste
Salt- As per taste
Method Of Preparation:
You can buy readymade chilli oil from the market or prepare your own homemade oil too. If you are interested in making chilli oil at home, then follow this quick procedure. First, take 4 tablespoons of refined cooking oil in a pan and let it heat for few minutes. Now pour the oil into a glass bowl. Cut few dry red chillies into medium pieces and add them to the hot oil. Let the chillies remain soaked for at least 24-48 hours. After that you have to strain the oil to separate the chilli flakes. Your fresh chilli oil is now ready.
Wash the prawns thoroughly and remove the shell and head. Put soya sauce, egg white, red chilli powder, salt and 1 tablespoon chilli oil into a big glass bowl. Now mix all the ingredients really well. Add the prawns to this mixture and make sure that each prawn gets equally coated. Marinate the prawn pieces for half an hour.
Place a frying pan on the flame and add the remaining chilli oil. Heat the oil for few seconds. Now take out the prawns from the marinated mixture and keep in a separate dish. Pour this mixture into the oil and cook for 2 minutes. Next, add the prawns and cook for few minutes on low flame. Meanwhile, pour the tomato sauce in another bowl and add 3-4 tablespoons of water to it. Mix well and pour this sauce into the frying pan. Add garlic, salt, and sugar, chopped red chillies and stir the mixture well. Lower the flame and let the prawns cook for 5 minutes. Now add black pepper powder as per your preference.
Mix the corn flour with water and pour this mixture into the pan. Pour 1 teaspoon chilli oil on top. Turn off the flame and serve piping hot.
