Home Remedies For Diarrhea In Children

Children often suffer from diarrhea from time to time. Gastrointestinal infections caused by viruses, bacteria and parasites result in frequent, loose and watery stools and severe pain in the abdomen. They also cause nausea and vomiting and if the diarrhea becomes very severe then it can result in dehydration.

Normally, the infection does not last long and is not dangerous but it is important to treat the diarrhea and eradicate the infection at its root. The infection is generally contracted by drinking contaminated water, eating contaminated food or improperly processed or preserved food and by coming in contact with an infected person.

Children often have dirty hands and also they often do not wash their hands after using the toilet and this too can cause diarrheal infections. It is important to impress upon your child to wash his/her hands with soap and water every time after using the toilette.
