A bunion is a bony protuberance that forms a knob at the base of the joint in the big toe. It can be painful and it hurts terribly when one walks. Fill an ice bag with ice cubes and place it on the bunion. Keep the bag for fifteen to twenty minutes in place. The chillness will reduce the swelling and pain and will make walking a much easier task. You can apply ice as often as you want. Simultaneously, you should switch over to flat and open toed shoes which allow ample room for your toes.
Make a paste with one teaspoon of turmeric powder and some slaked lime. Coat the bunion with this paste. Take a betel leaf and put it on a hot griddle till it becomes very warm. Cover the paste with this leaf. Bandage your toe with thin gauze. At night before going to bed apply a fresh coating and change the bandage. Do this regularly. The swelling will abate and the pain too will diminish and will ultimately go away altogether.

Dip a piece of stale bread into apple cider vinegar and place it on the bunion. Take a cotton gauze and bandage the bunion. Cover the gauze with a plastic tape so that the apple cider vinegar does not leak out. Do this, before you go to bed. In the morning remove the bandage. You will find, the swelling and pain has reduced considerably and the bunion too will feel not so hard.
Sit straight on a mat. Stretch your legs in front of you with heels firmly planted on the mat. Stretch your toes and wiggle them forwards and backwards. Do this for ten minutes two or three times daily. This exercise will stimulate the blood circulation, reduce the pain and swelling and will gradually help in the realignment of the joint.
