Who doesn’t love the rich creamy taste of chocolate cream? If you are a chocoholic then this chocolate trifle recipe is specifically meant for you. If you aren’t into chocolates then we suggest you try this recipe out and you will be hooked on to chocolates for life!
Chocolate trifle is mainly composed of fluffy and soft chocolate cream and the deeper you dig down into the dessert the better becomes the taste. What makes the dessert even more enticing is the chocolate ganache topping which is just begging to be scooped. If all that talk above hasn’t started your mouth watering then this chocolate trifle recipe definitely will.
Ingredients Required for Chocolate Trifle Dessert
Heavy Cream – 4 cups
Instant Chocolate Pudding – 2 Boxes
Chocolate Fudge Cake Mixture – 1 Box
Milk Chocolate Bars – 4
Prepare both the boxes of instant chocolate pudding as per the instructions written on the box. You can also use Instant Chocolate Mousse mix if you don’t have pudding mix available
Prepare the chocolate fudge cake as per the instructions given on the box. Cool the cake and cut it into cubes of 2 inches. Chop or grate the milk chocolate bars
Ingredients Required for Ganache Topping
Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 1 cup
Heavy Cream – ½ cup
Method of Preparation of Chocolate Trifle
1. Take a large sized microwave proof bowl and pour ½ cup heavy cream into it. Add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the heavy cream.
2. Put the bowl in microwave and heat it on high for about 2 minutes
3. Take the bowl out from microwave and using a wooden spatula mix the ingredients until you get a smooth chocolate sauce. Leave it to cool.
4. In the trifle bowl add pieces of cubed chocolate fudge cake.
5. Take half of the already prepared instant pudding and mix it with one cup of whipped cream.
6. Cover the cake cubes in the trifle box with the whipped cream and instant pudding mixture. Sprinkle some grated chocolate over the layer.

7. Add another layer of cubed cake and then a layer of only instant pudding. Now add a layer of whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate.

8. Alternatively repeat Step 6 and then Step 7 until all the ingredients are used up. However, leave an inch of the bowl empty for ganache topping.
9. For the ganache: Heat heavy cream and add semi-sweet chocolate chips to it. Whip the cream until the chips melt and blend in. You should have a smooth consistency of the two for the ganache. Now pour the ganache over the top most layer of the trifle.
10. Decorate with a small scoop of any leftover whipped cream and grated chocolate.
11. Put the trifle in the refrigerator to chill for about 6-8 hours. Your Chocolate Trifle dessert is ready to be served. Dig in!
Tip
One can use any Chocolate bar for sprinkling. However, a good brand of chocolate bar, like Hersheys, Lindt or Mars Bars, is recommended to give a rich taste to the dessert.
Violet Crumble is another chocolate bar that works wonders for the chocolate trifle. But you may have a tough time getting your hands on it since it is made only in Australia.
