Asthma is probably one of the most wide spread diseases of the modern world. The frequency with which it is spreading worldwide has increased tremendously in the recent years. A 2009 study revealed that as much as 300 million people are agonized by asthma.
Almost every household shelters an asthmatic patient, and they are well acquainted with the name and symptoms of asthma. Most of the people think that an asthmatic attack is triggered by allergens.
But apart from the allergens, asthma can be induced by various other things that revolve around us. So, this article is intended to draw the attention of readers and to inform them about some of the underlying causes of asthma and its corresponding types.
Different Types Of Asthma
Allergen Driven Asthma
Allergies are one of the most common and popularly known causes of asthma. Asthmatic attacks can be triggered due to various types of allergens. People who are oversensitive to certain types of chemicals or aromas may suffer from chronic allergy disease.

In this disease, the inner lining of the nose gets irritated and inflamed due to the allergens and leads to immediate response in the form of asthmatic symptoms. This disease is known as allergic rhinitis or more popularly, hay fever.
As soon as body comes in contact with an allergen the cells of the body start releasing histamine which thereby leads to asthma and other related problems.
Cough-Variant Asthma
Cough variant asthma may occur because of infections in the respiratory tract or due to excessive exercising. This type of asthma may be accompanied by severe and prolonged cough.

Patients with sinus problems or rhinitis may often suffer from cough-variant asthma. In spite of its tremendous symptoms people often undermine the disease because most of the people who are not diagnosed don’t even realize that they are suffering from asthma.
Occupational Asthma
This category of asthma may be triggered by a person’s work environment elements. Occupational asthma may be triggered even if you are not allergic to any particular types of substances. Potential asthma triggers in the working environment of a person may also lead to asthmatic attacks.

Nocturnal asthma is nothing but worsening symptoms of asthma during the night. It is commonly seen that persons who have an asthmatic tendency may suffer more at night. This may occur as the levels of corticosteroids and adrenaline in the body may fall during this time.
