Similarly many famous Chinese recipes have been created to suit the palate of people in specific parts of the world.
This trend has given birth to several modified Chinese recipes like the bourbon chicken. This recipe is extremely popular in America and you can also now prepare this simple and easy recipe right at your home with the help of the below mentioned instructions.
3 pounds of boneless chicken breast
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of peanut oil
For The Marinade
½ cup of bourbon
½ cup of light soy sauce
1 teaspoon of garlic salt
1 cup of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon of garlic salt
1 tablespoon of ground ginger
1. Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board and cut them into 1-inch sized pieces. Next, take a bowl that has a tight fitting lid and put the chicken pieces in it. After that, take a large bowl and place it on the counter. Put the brown sugar in the bowl and then add the dark soy sauce, garlic salt, bourbon, light soy sauce and ground ginger to the brown sugar. Now take a spoon and mix the added ingredients nicely in order to get a smooth marinade.
2. Once you are ready with the marinade, pour it over the chicken pieces in the bowl and then toss the chicken pieces to nicely coat them with the marinade. Once done, replace the bowl with a tight fitting lid and then insert the bowl into the refrigerator to marinade the chicken for 12 hours. Once the marinating time elapses, take out the chicken from the refrigerator and let the chicken come at room temperature. Once done, place a large sieve over a bowl and then strain the marinating liquid. Reserve the liquid and the chicken in two separate bowls and then set them aside.
3. Next, take another bowl and put the cornstarch in it. Add a little bit of water to the cornstarch and then stir with a spoon until you get a lump free solution. Once done, set aside the cornstarch and then take a large wok. Place the wok on the stove and wait until it turns hot. Once the wok reaches the desired hotness, pour the oil in it and then wait for it to heat up.
4. Once you start noticing smokes rising up the oil, swirl the oil in the wok to coat it with the oil, so that the chicken pieces don’t stick to the wok. Stir and cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes or until it turns slightly brown. Once you get a nice brown color on the chicken pieces, pour the reserved marinade all over them and then bring the mixture to a boil. When you get the desired thickness of the sauce, pour the cornstarch over the chicken and stir to combine nicely. Finally, cook the chicken for another 1-2 minutes and then serve it hot with white steamed rice or fried rice.
