Garlic Bread is the most loved starter all over the world. Whenever I go out with my husband and children to eat pizza, the first thing we order is Cheesy Garlic bread. My children love it and finish so quickly; so, I have decided to try making it at home, so that my entire family can enjoy it frequently.
Let us make this awesome and healthy snack and believe me it so simple and looks so delicious that you cannot resist yourself from having this Cheesy Garlic bread.
Preparation time: 35-40 minutes
Baking time: 30 minutes
3/4 cup milk
1/2 tbsp butter
11/2 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup refined flour
3/4 tsp dry yeast (active)
15 garlic cloves finely chopped
1/2 cup parsley leaves finely chopped
2 green chilles finely chopped
1/2 cup cheese finely grated
1/2 tsp Salt
1 /2 tsp sugar
Firstly mix the yeast in 1 tsp of milk and 1/2 tsp of water. Then add sugar, salt and stir it gently.Leave the yeast mixture for 5 to 10 minutes to make it foamy. Take a bowl and mix finely chopped parsley, garlic and chilles together and keep aside. Take another bowl and put wheat flour, refined flour, milk and butter in it; but before doing that melt the butter and let it cool down before adding to the flour.
Mix all the ingredients and rub them thoroughly with your fingers to make them appear like bread crumbs. Now add the yeast to the flour and knead the dough nicely. Ensure that you knead the dough really well as if you take more time to knead the dough the outcome will be excellent. Hence, knead it for not less than 15 minutes. Slowly and gradually the dough will start getting smooth and sticky.
Now place this dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth and keep it aside for about 20-25 minutes. Later you will see that the dough has doubled in size now knead the dough again for about 5 minutes and keep it aside covered with damp cloth to get really soft and mouthwatering Garlic breads.
Combine the garlic, parsley and chilli paste and some grated cheese to the dough and mix all the ingredients well into the dough. Knead the dough again very nicely and make small balls out of the dough. Press with your thumb from the center and sprinkle the remaining grated cheese on the centre of the balls and place them in greased baking tray.
Now bake these garlic breads at 220°C for about 30 minutes or till they change their texture and turn brown. Your crispy and delicious Garlic bread loaded with cheese are ready to relish. Serve these mouth watering Garlic breads with any dip of your choice or simply enjoy it alone.
1) You can use different types of herbs like thyme, cilantro, mint etc for a variation.
2) You can decrease the amount of cheese if you want low fat Garlic breads.
3) Ensure that you apply the oil in the baking tray before placing the garlic bread dough in the tray.
4) You can also saute the garlic in butter for a minute before adding it to the dough.
5) You can also store this Garlic bread in freezer and consume it within a week.
