Chicken Satay Wraps

Are you tired of your old dinner menu and want something healthy and fast to replace it? Chicken satay wraps are extremely delicious and can be made in a jiffy. It is made by mixing chicken with various ingredients like peanut butter, soy sauce, onions, carrots and coconut milk and then wrapping this in tortillas.

Instead of using regular tortillas you can use fat free, whole wheat variant which is healthy and has lesser calories. You can also serve this healthy wraps for breakfast or even to your guests as finger food. Here is an extremely simple and quick chicken satay wraps recipe that can help you make this delicious dish at home using a few, simple ingredients.

Recipe for Chicken Satay Wraps

What You Need

Three cups of shredded cooked chicken Two tablespoons of olive oil Two chopped onions One tablespoon soy sauce One tablespoon of vinegar Three tablespoons of peanut butter Half a teaspoon pepper Half a cup of thinly sliced carrots Half a teaspoon of cooking oilOne cup of coleslaw mixture Six whole wheat tortillas

Method Of Preparation

1. In a non stick pan, add some cooking oil. Add the chopped onions and carrots. Sauté on low heat for some time before adding soy sauce, vinegar, pepper, peanut butter to the pan. Let the ingredients cook for some time before adding the chicken. Mix all the ingredients well so that the chicken is well coated with all the spices and other ingredients.

Turn off the heat and remove the chicken into a small bowl. You can also add some coconut milk to the chicken filling for added flavor. Some people like to keep the filling for the wraps crunchy and fresh. To do this mix all the ingredients for the filling in the bowl and drizzle some olive oil on top and mix well.

2. On a flat pan warm the tortillas. You can use regular flour tortillas if you cannot find the whole wheat variant. Remove from heat and spread it on a plate. Spoon some coleslaw mixture on top or added fresh iceberg lettuce leaves. Add the chicken filling to the centre of the coleslaw mix.

3. Roll up the tortillas tightly ensuring that the filling does not spill out and then place a plastic wrap around it. You are now ready to serve the wraps with chips and some spicy sauce. If you want to make finger foods for guests then simply cut the wraps into four pieces and place a toothpick on top to secure the wrapsbefore serving.

4. There are many variations of this dish and you can add the ingredients of the filling based on your choice. Some people prefer adding celery, red pepper and diced capsicum to the chicken filling. To add a spicy touch to the dish you can also add some curry powder or Thai green paste.  The chicken can be barbecued or grilled before shredding it into pieces. To save your time and effort the chicken can be grilled before and refrigerated.
