Home Remedies For Ant Bites

All ants do not sting. There are only three types of ants which sting. They are fire ants known as Solenopsis, ponerine ants known as Pachycondyla and the Myrmecia ants. When the ants bite, they grab the skin with their mandibles and continuously inflict a kind of venom which is toxic and which irritates the skin enormously. The main component of the venom is formic acid. The venom which fire ants spray, contains alkaloid and protein components.

Fire ants inflict the most painful stings. Besides severe itching and burning ant bites can cause allergic reactions like chest pains, nausea, shortness of breath, excessive sweating, slurred speech and severe inflammation of the skin. The itching and burning caused by ant bites sets the skin on fire and red welts appear on the skin. Sometimes due to severe scratching, tiny bumps and pustules occur on the skin. To avoid this, you should avoid scratching and immediately remove the ants from your skin.
