5 Best Home Remedies For Abscesses

Home Remedies For Abscesses

Abscesses are sore eruptions surrounded by a red area. They are warm and tender and can be easily felt by touching. The middle part of an abscess contains pus and dead skin cells. They generally appear around the anus and vagina, in the armpits, groin area, base of the spine and around a tooth. Abscesses occur when the oil glands or the sweat glands become blocked due to infections. Tiny cuts in the skin allow the germs to get under the skin and block the glands. Sometimes inflamed hair follicles can also cause abscesses.

A weakened immune system and certain diseases like cancer, diabetes and AIDS also cause abscesses.  The center of the abscess is soft as it is filled with pus that contains bacteria, dead cells and other debris. It continues to grow and causes the skin to become taut. The surrounding tissues inflame further and cause a lot of pain and pressure. Most abscesses come to a head when they have developed fully. If the infection spreads deep into the skin then there is fever.
