In this recipe, we will learn to make sizzling barbecue chicken sticks and team them up with the sweet and sour lemon garlic hummus.

Recipe For Lemon Garlic Hummus

Complexity Level: Very Easy
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Yields: 5 – 6 servings

Ingredients Required

2 cups of rinsed chickpeas
2 ½ teaspoons of lemon juice
2 teaspoons of powdered garlic
Salt to taste


1. Mix all the above specified ingredients in a medium sized plastic bowl. Make sure that you first add the dry ingredients and then the wet ones, while mixing them well. This will avoid formation of hollow lumps.

2. The time you feel that the mixture has gained thickness and consistency, pour it in a food processor. Blend it well for about 30 to 45 seconds. Transfer it to a small bowl and refrigerate for about an hour.

3. For those, who do not have access to a food processor, can use a hand blender or mixer. Make sure that you make the hummus beforehand. This will give the requisite time for letting it settle.

Recipe For Barbecued Chicken Sticks

Cooking + Grilling Time: 60 minutes
Yields: 5 – 6 servings

Ingredients Required

50 grams melted butter
½ teaspoon of red chilli powder
Salt to taste
10 – 12 boneless chicken sticks
¾ cup of pepper sauce
250 ml Italian Salad Dressing


1. Take the chicken sticks and slash them with knife in four segments. Store them in a plastic bowl. In another bowl, add salad dressing, pepper sauce, vinegar, salt and red chilli powder. Take about 4 spoons of this marinate mixture and store in refrigerator. Add chicken sticks to it and cover them completely. Marinate for about 2 hours.

2. Once it has marinated, grill the chicken over barbeque. Grill each side for 20 minutes and brush off the traces of marinate from it. Depending upon the color of sticks, adjust the heat of barbecue. To make sure that the chicken has cooked completely, pierce a toothpick. In case, pink juice is visible on toothpick, let it be barbecued for some time.

3. Take an oven plate or a heat resistant tray, place the chicken sticks over it and add a few spoons of the refrigerated marinate mixture over it. Let it heat at 200 Celsius for about 40 minutes. Keep turning the sides while hemming it with marinade mixture. Once it is cooked, serve it hot with the lemon garlic hummus.
