Especially for children being healthy is very important. It is the responsibility of parents to make children be clean, tidy and free from diseases. They have to keep the environment of the children very clean and safe.
It is a known fact that there are some diseases or health issues that are confined to physical, social and economic environment. Among the determinants of health includes child’s characteristics and behavior. Any change in the characteristics or behavior for a long time in children is a cause of concern to parents.

What is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder?
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a behavior disorder. It is most common in school going children. It is also found to be more in boys than in girls. Going with the name of the disorder, the children with ADHD are inattentive, over active and impulse.
The main symptoms of ADHD are lack of attention, hyper activity and behaving impulsively. Children with ADHD are restless and impulsive than compared to those without ADHD. Inattentive symptoms include not giving attention while doing homework or any other task, lacks focus, have aversion to tasks that require mental effort, easily distracted and forgetful.
A hyper activity symptom include moves around without sitting in one place, runs and shouts when requires silence, does not play quietly and is talkative. Impulsive symptoms include interrupting others, comes out with an answer before the question is completely asked and difficulty waiting for chances to come.
There exists certain causes that helps to diagnose whether the children are having such disorder or not. Like wise every school going child has some common concerns such as being dull, difficulty in learning, unable to sleep and others. But if it is found for a long time, then it is a cause of concern to parents.
Causes like depression, unable to sleep, inability to learn things, tic disorders are most commonly found in children with ADHD. Other causes of concern include genes, brain injuries and in taking of certain food additives.
It is very difficult to diagnose ADHD in children. There are no specific lab tests to diagnose ADHD. The basic symptoms of ADHD may exist in any child with normal development and may be misdiagnosed as having ADHD. There are certain facts that enable the parents as well as doctor to decide if the child has to be diagnosed for ADHD.
The facts include symptoms mostly found in children aging between three to six; symptoms existing for at least six months and symptoms are severe when compared to other kids. When the parents or teachers find these facts in children, they have to take the child to doctor.
The doctor or the specialist examines the behavior of the child at home as well as at school, past medical records and also family health background. They also gather information from teachers and other adults associated with the child about their behavior.
There is no particular treatment for children diagnosed with ADHD. Treatments such as medications, different therapies including psychotherapy and most importantly parental guidance and affection can bring difference in children with ADHD and can manage them effectively and efficiently.
Thus, it is very important for parents to examine if there exist any change in the behavior of their children. ADHD is a behavioral disorder where the child becomes inattentive, hyperactivity and impulsive. ADHD cannot be completely cured but can be managed efficiently. Medications, therapies and positive parental affection and guidance should be provided to children with ADHD as a part of treatment.
