Home sweet home. That is what comes to the mind as we knock the door of our home after a long day at work. As we hear often, home is not just the four walls and a roof. Home is the essence of life that resides within those four walls. And good décor adds to the liveliness of the house. Today I am going to share with you a few ideas that would enhance the décor.
Ideas For Doing Your Home
Give Your Living Room a Comfy Look
In most homes, living room is the most important room. You relax there, watch TV, discuss your day with your family and even entertain guests. You can give your living room a relaxed feel with deep sofas, bean bags and comfortable cushions.
Don’t be disheartened if the furniture of your room is not too comfortable to sink into. Just add a few extra cushions and soft rugs on the floor to give the room a comfy look.
Carve a Niche for Yourself, Literally
If you have a big enough living room, or any other room for that matter, try to highlight one corner of the room with soft lighting, furniture with bright colored cushions and a designer coffee table.
Play Around with Cushions
I’m mentioning cushions again and again because they are cheap, come in various designs, and you can experiment with them easily to change the look of your room. If you haven’t tried this before, do it now and you’ll know what I mean.
A funky cushion can brighten up any part of the room. Use them liberally on sofas and beds.
Minimalist Feel for Your Bedroom
Bedroom of any house reflects the mood and behavior of its occupants. Bedroom is exclusively your place and try to keep it that ways. Don’t clutter your bedroom with unnecessary furniture, wardrobes and side tables. Instead, go for hidden wardrobes, storage space within bed space, muted lighting, bedside lamps and scented candles. If you love books, do put a stylish bookshelf at your bedside, complete with a lamp as the centerpiece.
Unclutter Your Life
Now I’m going to talk about one place in our house we dread to enter: kids’ room. What greets us there is cluttered bookshelves, overflowing wardrobes, CDs strewn everywhere, gadgets stuffed in every nook and corner possible.
Did I talk of getting rid of wardrobes and tables elsewhere? Well, shift them here. Storage, storage and more storage space is what you need to have in your kids’ room. Floor to ceiling wardrobes on at least one wall is necessary because utility takes precedence over aesthetic sense here.
Display Your Emotions
You can use a soft display board on any of the empty walls to put up your favorite photographs, children’s drawings, or posters of favorite cartoon character. If you have teen aged children the board can reflect their ever changing choice of favorite icons.
Mix and Match
What you need to keep in mind always is that keep changing a few things here and there once in a while. For example, you could exchange floor rugs of the living room and bedroom. The novelty that it brings will be refreshing for everyone and you will be able to give your home a make over without major investments in terms of time and money both.Doing your home is all about intuitive creativity. And believe me, when it comes to your own home, you will never be short of new ideas.
