Fabulous Yoga Poses For Irregular Periods

The menstrual cycle is a mirror to reflect the  reproductive health of a woman. This cycle usually comes between 21-35 days and if it is delayed or comes before this time, it could mean that there is an underlying cause. Environment, stress levels, ill health, excessive exercise and upset hormones or birth control pills, all could lead to an irregular menstrual cycle.

Let us see these simple yoga techniques that could cure the untimely cycle

Vajrasana (Diamond pose)

This is a very simple yet effective pose to treat period problems and strengthen the sex organs. In addition, it also helps in curing digestive ailments, constipation, acidity, and massages the joints relieving them from pain. It is performed as – Sit on the yoga mat with legs folded inwards and soles touching the buttocks.The back should be straight with the palms down on the respective thighs.Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Release slowly at the count of 10, trying to imagine the expulsion of all toxins and irregularities from the reproductive system. Repeat again and continue for 10-15 minutes. This is the only exercise that can be performed immediately after eating.

Vajrasana or Thunder Bolt Pose
Trikonasana (Triangle pose)

This asana is effective in stimulating the pelvic organs. It strengthens the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. Stand with legs shoulder length apart. Spread out the hands to form a ‘T’ and turn the right leg to 90 degrees facing outwards. Bend right sideways and touch the ground with your palms. The other hand should be up in the air facing the ceiling and turn your gaze towards the left-hand tip. Stand in this position for 3-6 minutes. Return to original position. Change sides and repeat.

Trikonasana or Triangle Pose
Tadasana (Mountain pose)

Stand straight with legs 3-4 ” apart and hands on the sides. Look straight and keep gazing for 3-6 minutes. This asana is easy to perform and helps in regularising periods and treats obstructed flow.

Adho Mukhasvanasana( downward facing dog pose)

Go down on your fours and sit with knees on the floor. Push out the pelvis and knees till the hands and legs are straight and stretched out. Take care, not to benD the knees.Hold for 10-15 seconds. Back to start position. Repeat. This yoga technique not only tones the body and pelvic muscles but also cures obstructed periods by stimulating blood flow.

Baddhakonasana(Butterfly pose)

This exercise helps a pregnant woman in smooth delivery. It is beneficial to both men and women as it stimulates the pelvic and reproductive organs. Sit straight. Bring your feet together inside and the knees should be out. The soles of the feet should touch each other. Inhale. Now exhale slowly and pull down your legs to the floor with the help of your elbows. Start fluttering your thighs up and down like a butterfly.Do this for 2-3 minutes or till comfortable. Pregnant women should take the experts guidance.

Dhanurasana(Bow pose)

This asana is great to reduce belly fat and tones the back, groin, ankles, thighs and calves. The reproductive organs get stimulated to perform functions smoothly. Lie on your stomach on the floor.Relax. Pull up your upper body and legs together, and hold your ankles with your hands. Make the shape of a bow. The stomach and pelvis are touching the floor and the rest of the body is in the air. Stay in this position for 15-20 seconds. Exhale slowly and get back to the start position. Repeat this 4-5 times.
