Nothing beats a quick starter for any party. And during the summers, most people love sipping on drinks and munching on starters while lounging around. But heavy starters fill you up so you need something that is satiating, but not very filling. So here are some quick starter recipes that will be the star of any party, without over-filling you.

1. Gazpacho

Tomato gazpachos are a favourite cooler and works as a great cold soup. Blend balanced tomatoes and strain them. Add finely cut ginger, chillies, garlic, onions, capsicum and tomatoes to it. Garnish with tomato and a dash of lime juice. Season as per taste and serve cold.

2. Bruschetta

Simple toasted breads with toppings of tomatoes, basil or even mushrooms. Take some sliced french bread and rub a garlic clove on it or use garlic butter. Next add chopped veggies of your choice with some sea salt, olive oil and basil. Toast till crisp and serve warm.

Another light starter for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. Mix some grilled or blanched sea food like fish, prawn, etc. with thousand island dressing. Next take a lettuce leaf and put the mixture on the same. Serve in a spoon or on its own.

This one is a quickie but high on spices and taste. Take veggies like broccoli, corn, mushroom, baby corn, etc. or even chicken, lamb or prawns or crabs. Toss in cornflour till thickly coated and put in freezer for about 20 minutes. Deep fry in hot oil till crisp and red. Season well. Toss in sweet chilly garlic or serve it with a dip of your choice.

5. Grilled Seasonal Vegetables

Grill your favourite vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions, etc. in a an oven till they are crisp and charred. Then sprinkle herbs of your choice and a dash of olive oil. For a tandoori flavour, marinate them (for about 2 hours) in a yogurt dressing with mango powder, chilly-ginger-garlic paste, salt and turmeric.  Serve with a dip of your choice or simply with some coriander chutney.

6. Nachos With Mango Salsa

Give the classic Mexican nachos a twist by using ripe mangoes along with tomatoes, onions and chillies. Chop blanched tomatoes, mangoes, chilly, garlic, ginger and onions. Add salt, lime and a bit of pepper. Serve with a packet of store brought nachos (you can make your own at home too).
