Avoid the cabbage family completely if you intend to nurse your little one. The vegetables falling under this category are responsible for extreme bloating, gassiness and a disturbed digestive system. It is important to eliminate these foods from your diet for the initial few months or till the baby’s digestive system is strong enough to digest them.
It is advisable to avoid the consumption of cow’s milk during the nursing phase. Milk obtained from cow is known to trigger allergic reactions in the baby resulting in skin rashes, diarrhea, fever, cold and sudden congestion. Even dairy products made from cow’s milk should be avoided till the baby turns six months and gains some immunity against bacterial infections and allergies.

Also, foods containing MSG should be totally avoided till the infant turns at least one year. Hence it is best to stay away from canned beans, potato chips, salted wafers, canned sea foods, Chinese food containing MSG till the time you plan to nurse the baby.
Carbonated Drinks And Caffeine
If you are a diehard coffee addict, you need to curb your cravings for that daily cuppa loaded with caffeine. It may not only make the baby restless and dehydrated but will also slow down your breast milk supply as suggested by some recent studies.
Also, caffeine present in carbonated and aerated drinks, dark chocolates and some energy drinks is equally harmful for the baby’s health and weight gain. Cutting down on the number of cups to one or two in a day and switching to herbal teas and de caffeinated coffee will certainly help in boosting the breast milk supply and reducing the allergic reactions in the baby.
