4 Low Calorie Prawn Recipes

Festival season is around the corner and we are ready for the informal get- togethers. This time you can plan for a menu with a touch of good health. There are thousands of recipe books in the market and hundreds of internet sites which promise you yo give original new and healthy recipes. But if you want to avoid this search hassel and create a great impression at the dinner, I have some really good ones to share.

Prawns are very delicious and readily available everywhere. These Prawn recipes are not only original and one of its kinds, but will make you the talk of the town too. These are pretty easy to make, not much of preparation time and very healthy too. These recipes are specifically meant for calorie conciuos people, those who do not want to regret after having a wonderful dinner.

Steamed Prawns In Orange Juice

Things You Need

Medium sized cleaned and deveined Prawns, 10-15
Low fat Butter 3 tablespoons
3-4 cloves of Garlic, chopped
Fresh Orange juice, 5 tablespoons
Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
1 Bunch of fresh Parsley leaves, chopped


Wash and clean the Prawns properly. Add the Butter, chopped Garlic, Salt, Black Pepper and chopped Parsley to the Prawns and coat them well. Steam the prawns in a steamer and serve them hot. If you do not have a steamer you can steam the prawns in a stainless steel bowl placed in a waterbath.

Cold Prawns

Things You Need

Cooked prawns 250gms
Fat free Mayonise 1 cup
Parsley- Garlic sauce 3 tablespoons
Tomato Ketchup 3 tablespoons
Soya Sauce 1/2 teaspoon
Fresh lemon juice 1 teaspoon
Red chili powder 1 teaspoon
Salt and Black Pepper powder for taste
Dry Parsley 1 teaspoon
1 Teaspoon Sugar
Capsico sauce 1/ teaspoon
Mustard powder 1/2 teaspoon


Parsley- Garlic sauce- Add the Mayonise, Parsley, Tomato ketchup, Garlic, salt and Black Pepper. Mix well. Marinate the cooked prawns with Parsley- garlic sauce, Mayonise, Lemon juice and Soya sauce. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Serve cold.

Prawn Salad

Things You Need

Peanuts 3 tablespoons
4 Garlic cloves, chopped
small Prawns 100 gms
1 whole lemon, made into round slices
2 Green chilis
1/2 Cucumber, cut into thicklong strips
1 Tomato, cut in cubes
Olive oil 1 tablespoon
Brown sugar 1 teaspoon
Fresh Orange juice 4 tablespoons


Clean and wash the Small Prawns and fry them of 1 minute. Take Pesnuts, Tomato cubes, Cucumber strips, chopped Green chilis, two slices of lemon and the fried prwans, crush it slighly in a mortar and pestle. Add the Olive oil,Brown Sugar and fresh Orange juice. Mix well and serve in a long rectangular plate.

Batter Baked Prawns With Stuffed Chicken

Things You Need

Jumbo Prawns, cleaned 450 gm
Minced Chicken 100gms
1 Egg, lightly beaten
Salt to taste
Soya sauce 1 tablespoon
Corn flour 1/2 cup
Refined oil to spray


Clean and wash the Jumbo Prawns. Do not remove the tails.
Slit and open the Prawns lengthwise. Stuff it with minced chicken.
Add Salt, Soya Sauce to the beaten Egg and beat it again.
Dipp the Stuffed prawns in the beaten Egg and then coat with Corn Flour.
Set the oven at 350 degree C, and bake the prawns in a greased baking dish for 15 minutes.
Serve it hot and crispy with green salad.
